H13 ESR refers to H13 steel that has undergone electroslag remelting.Compared to H13 steel smelted in an electric arc furnace(EAF), the main advantages of H13 ESR are as follows:

  • Higher purity: Very few internal impurities.
  • Better isotropy: Smaller differences in properties between the longitudinal and transverse directions.
  • Greater toughness: Better impact and crack resistance due to its uniform and pure microstructure.
  • Longer fatigue life: Longer service life under repeated thermal stress.
  • Better polishability: Particularly important for mold surfaces requiring high-gloss finishes.

ESR typically represents higher quality H13 steel, which significantly improves the intrinsic quality of H13 steel, making it more suitable for manufacturing high-end molds that require high reliability and long service life.
